Using the Keyboard in ChartOverlay
How the Modifier Keys Affect the Mouse
The Ctrl, Shift and Alt keys can all be used to modify the default behaviors of ChartOverlay.
- To modify or act on one of the items you've drawn, Select it by Ctrl-clicking on one of its lines;
when an item is selected, it's Defining Points will be hilited with small circles (note that simply pointing
at an item will select it temporarily; you can then right-click to apply a menu command to it)
- To select nothing at all (no defining points hilited), Ctrl-click in an empty area
- To adjust any point that defines one of the items you've drawn, use Ctrl-click and drag the point
- To move an item Ctrl-click anywhere on the item and drag, or use an Arrow key (see below)
- To move all items Alt-click on any item and drag
- If you have checked Auto Erase, you can override it by pressing the Ctrl key while dragging
- To remove unwanted lines in a Fibonacci Retracement or Andrews' Pitchfork, select the Retracement and
then Ctrl-click on the line you want to remove (add the Alt key to remove all lines of the same type);
this feature is only active if you have checked Remove Fibonacci Levels by Ctrl-Clicking on Them on the
Fibonacci tab in the Options dialog
- If you want to activate a tool without seeing its dialog, use Ctrl-click when selecting the tool
- If you checked the Don't Show this Dialog Every Time and you want to see the dialog, use Ctrl-click
when selecting the tool
- If you want to draw horizontally or vertically, use the Shift key
- If you want to drag or adjust horizontally or vertically, use the Shift key
