Detailed Download
and Installation
Instructions

To begin the installation process, please read these instructions.

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, you will see a dialog like the one shown here. (The filename fo01000.exe will probably differ.) If you're using a different browser, you will see something similar.

Download Instructions

For many users Open is the best choice. If you choose Open, the installer is downloaded to a temporary location. It runs automatically as soon as downloading is complete. Once installation is complete, you are finished with the installer. Because you can download the latest update any time you like, there's no need to save the installer file. If you don't save it, you don't need to remember where you put it. If you choose this option, skip the next section (More Download Instructions) and go directly to Installation Instructions below. If you are installing Version 2.0, do not disconnect from the Internet just yet.

More Download Instructions

If you are having problems with your connection and cannot get the Open option to work, or if you just like to keep a copy of installer files, choose Save. Be sure to make a note of the file name and of the folder where you save the installer file. Where you save the installer file is up to you, but we suggest you save it in "C:\Downloads" or one of its subfolders, unless you have a location you prefer.

After Save has finished, you will see a second dialog titled Download Complete.

Make a note of the pathname displayed on the line beginning Download to (eg, C:\Downloads\Omnium\fo01000.exe).

If you are ready to install now, choose Open. You won't have to locate the file.

If you don't want to run the installer right away and you don't want to look for it later, choose Open Folder. This opens a Windows Explorer window that displays the file you just downloaded.

Installation Instructions

Once you run the installer, however you choose to do so, you are guided through the process. Follow the prompts. Unless you have reason to do otherwise, choose the default responses.

If you are installing Version 2.0, be sure to remain connected to the Internet while running the installer (for an explanation, read the next section). If you are asked, "Do you want to download files from internet server?", answer "Yes". When asked if you want to save download files, answer "No" (unless you really want to save them).

(Version 2.0 only) Why You Must Remain Connected to the Internet During Installation

Like any other Windows program, ChartOverlay and FibOverlay may require that you add certain Microsoft libraries or controls to your system (or that you update them). In Version 2.0, as a convenience for those with slow Internet connections, we did not require everyone to download these Microsoft files. Should you need them, they will be downloaded during installation, making it necessary that you remain connected to the Internet. If any of these Microsoft files are required, you will be asked "Do you want to download files from internet server?", but only if you are installing Version 2.0.
